Ingredients
  

Potato Layers
  • 5 potatoes thinly sliced
  • 200 g bacon chopped
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1.5 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp thyme optional
  • parsley for garnish

  • Oven-safe skillet
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Aluminum foil

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove.
  3. Cook onions in the same skillet until soft.
  4. Layer potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  5. Add bacon, onions, and cheese between layers.
  6. Season each layer with salt and pepper.
  7. Top with butter and cover with foil.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes, then uncover.
  9. Bake another 20–25 minutes until golden.
  10. Rest, garnish, and serve warm.

Notes

For extra richness, add a splash of cream between layers. Let rest before slicing for clean layers.
