Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove.
- Cook onions in the same skillet until soft.
- Layer potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Add bacon, onions, and cheese between layers.
- Season each layer with salt and pepper.
- Top with butter and cover with foil.
- Bake for 40 minutes, then uncover.
- Bake another 20–25 minutes until golden.
- Rest, garnish, and serve warm.
Notes
For extra richness, add a splash of cream between layers. Let rest before slicing for clean layers.
