Baked French Onion Gnocchi Ingredients
  • 1 lb potato gnocchi store-bought or homemade
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese shredded
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt butter with olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook 20–25 minutes until caramelized. Add garlic and thyme in last 2 minutes.
  3. Boil gnocchi per package instructions until they float. Drain.
  4. Add broth and cream to onions, simmer for 2–3 minutes, season with salt and pepper.
  5. Stir gnocchi into onion mixture, transfer to greased baking dish, sprinkle Gruyère on top.
  6. Bake 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden. Garnish with thyme or parsley, serve hot.

Notes

Optional: add mushrooms or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
