Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt butter with olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook 20–25 minutes until caramelized. Add garlic and thyme in last 2 minutes.
- Boil gnocchi per package instructions until they float. Drain.
- Add broth and cream to onions, simmer for 2–3 minutes, season with salt and pepper.
- Stir gnocchi into onion mixture, transfer to greased baking dish, sprinkle Gruyère on top.
- Bake 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden. Garnish with thyme or parsley, serve hot.
Notes
Optional: add mushrooms or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
