Ingredients
  

Batter
  • 500 g button mushrooms cleaned
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water cold
  • oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Clean and dry mushrooms thoroughly.
  2. Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and spices in a bowl.
  3. Add cold water and whisk into a smooth batter.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Dip mushrooms in batter and coat evenly.
  6. Fry in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra crunch, double coat with breadcrumbs. Best served immediately for maximum crispiness.
