Ingredients
  

Bread Dough
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1.25 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method
 

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix flour, salt, garlic powder, parsley, and black pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to dry ingredients and mix into a shaggy dough.
  4. Fold shredded cheddar cheese evenly into the dough.
  5. Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  6. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) with Dutch oven inside.
  7. Shape dough into a round loaf and place on parchment paper.
  8. Transfer dough carefully into hot Dutch oven.
  9. Brush top with melted butter and minced garlic.
  10. Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncovered for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with butter, soups, or pasta dishes. Try adding jalapeños or bacon for extra flavor.
