Cheesy Garlic Pull-Apart Bread

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F/43°C
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Filling
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 egg beaten for brushing

  • Whisk or hand mixer

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix to form soft dough.
  3. Knead dough on floured surface 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Mix garlic, butter, and parsley to make garlic butter.
  6. Punch down dough, roll into rectangle 12x16 inches. Cut into 2-inch squares. Layer cheese between squares and brush with garlic butter. Stack in greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush top with beaten egg. Bake 25–30 minutes until golden and cheese bubbles.
  9. Cool 5 minutes. Pull apart and serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh herbs for stronger flavor. Reheat in oven to refresh gooey texture.
