Ingredients
  

Pasta Skillet
  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 14 ounces smoked sausage sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped
  • salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown sliced sausage on both sides.
  3. Add diced onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Mix in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Add tomato paste and stir well for one minute.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring until combined.
  7. Reduce heat and slowly stir in parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  8. Add butter and return sausage to the skillet.
  9. Add cooked pasta and toss until fully coated in creamy sauce.
  10. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

For extra spice, add additional Cajun seasoning or hot sauce. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days and reheated with a splash of cream.
