Ingredients
  

Custard
  • 5 eggs large
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Bread
  • 1 loaf brioche bread thick sliced
Topping
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar

Method
 

  1. Butter baking dish and sprinkle brown sugar on bottom.
  2. Arrange bread slices evenly in dish.
  3. Whisk custard ingredients and pour over bread.
  4. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle sugar and broil until caramelized.

Best prepared the night before for optimal texture.
