Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tsp red food coloring
Glaze
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and red food coloring.
  4. Alternately mix in flour mixture and buttermilk, ending with flour. Stir in vinegar.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top. Bake 50–60 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack.
  7. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add milk for desired consistency.
  8. Drizzle glaze over cooled loaf. Slice and serve.

Notes

Optional: Decorate with chocolate shavings, nuts, or edible glitter for festive presentation.
