Method
- Dissolve sugar in warm water, sprinkle yeast, and let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add yeast mixture, warm milk, and melted butter to flour and stir until soft dough forms.
- Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
- Punch down dough and shape into loaf, rest 15–20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), bake 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on wire rack before slicing and serving.
