Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook mushrooms until browned and moisture evaporates.
- Add garlic, shallot, thyme, parsley, salt, and pepper and cook briefly.
- Cool mushroom mixture slightly, then stir in cream cheese and Gruyère cheese.
- Roll puff pastry slightly and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Spoon filling down center of pastry.
- Cut diagonal strips on both sides and braid over filling.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and thyme.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For extra richness, drizzle with a touch of truffle oil before serving.
