Method
- Whisk sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Temper egg yolks with hot pudding mixture.
- Return mixture to saucepan and cook for 2–3 more minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
- Pour pudding into the prepared pie crust.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
- Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla and spread on top before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, garnish with chocolate curls or cocoa powder. Keep refrigerated until serving.
