Ingredients
  

Rissoles
  • 1 lb ground beef or beef/pork mix
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
Gravy
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and parsley. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape mixture into 8 oval patties.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry rissoles 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and stir in flour to form a roux. Cook 1-2 minutes.
  5. Gradually whisk in beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Return rissoles to skillet, spooning gravy over them. Cover and simmer 5-7 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with gravy, mashed potatoes, or vegetables.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or mustard to the gravy.
