Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup milk or cream
Filling
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp cream or milk
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with milk or cream, until soft dough forms.
  6. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar, cut into strips, and twist.
  7. Place twists on baking sheet and bake 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Cool on wire rack.
  9. Beat butter with powdered sugar and vanilla; add cream to reach desired consistency.
  10. Drizzle or sandwich twists with filling, serve or store.

Notes

Optional glaze or extra cinnamon sugar for finishing.
