Method
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and butter. Knead until smooth.
- Let dough rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Divide dough into 8 pieces and wrap around hot dogs.
- Boil wrapped hot dogs in baking soda bath for 20–30 seconds.
- Brush with egg and sprinkle salt.
- Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For extra flavor, brush with melted butter after baking. Best served warm with mustard or cheese dip.
