Vanilla Waffle Batter
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1.25 cups buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 cup butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Red Velvet Batter Addition
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp red food coloring
  • 1 tbsp milk
Cream Cheese Glaze
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in one bowl.
  3. Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl and combine with dry.
  4. Divide batter and prepare red velvet portion.
  5. Spoon alternating batters into waffle iron and swirl.
  6. Cook until golden and crisp.
  7. Prepare glaze and drizzle over waffles before serving.
