Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and powdered sugar until fluffy, then add egg, vanilla, and food coloring.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into balls and bake 10–12 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly and roll cookies in powdered sugar.

Notes

For extra holiday flair, roll cookies twice in powdered sugar after cooling completely.
