Ingredients
  

Bread Pudding Base
  • 6 cups bread cubes day-old
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 2 apples diced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage chopped
Custard
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook sausage in skillet until browned.
  3. Cook onions, apples, garlic, and sage in butter.
  4. Combine bread cubes, sausage, and apple mixture.
  5. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, and spices.
  6. Pour custard over bread mixture and rest 10 minutes.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best texture.
