- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Cook sausage in a skillet until browned. Drain and set aside.
- Melt butter in a 9x9 baking dish in the oven.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Stir in buttermilk until just combined.
- Fold in cooked sausage and shredded cheese.
- Pour dough into buttered baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
