Ingredients
  

Rice
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
Protein
  • 0.5 lb shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 0.5 lb smoked sausage sliced
Vegetables
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 0.5 cup bell peppers diced
  • 0.5 cup celery chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp thyme
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Cook rice in broth and set aside.
  2. Brown sausage and remove.
  3. Sauté vegetables until soft.
  4. Cook shrimp until pink.
  5. Add spices and sausage.
  6. Stir in rice and mix well.
  7. Cook a few minutes and serve.

Notes

Use day-old rice for best texture. Adjust spice level to taste.
