Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg, almond extract, and vanilla.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in dried cherries and sliced almonds.
- Scoop dough onto baking sheets and bake for 11–13 minutes.
- Cool briefly before transferring to a wire rack.

Do not overbake to maintain a soft center.
